Change in program
For those of you interested in the session by Deborah Carder Mayes, titled “May They Rest Peacefully” this is the accurate description of her topic: How a nearly destroyed 1828 cemetery was saved, the story of Cheney Cemetery, Union County, Ohio and how to save, restore, and protect the burial places of our ancestors.
We apologize for any confusion.
OGS Conference Registration Booklet now online
Conference registration booklet.
We’ve received a few notes regarding not being able to find the registration booklet, or having trouble opening it.
On the OGS.org homepage, you will see the logo for the 2012 conference. It will state, “The registration booklet is now available.” If you don’t see it right away, wait, as this is a rotating home page and other screens become visible.
If you can’t open it in Internet Explorer, you may want to try Google Chrome, or FireFox. This isn’t an endorsement for these search engines, but another way to open the booklet.
This is also a reminder to get your hotel reservations quickly. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is having their induction the Saturday of conference. Make sure you have a room!

OGS 2012
Thanks for all the great comments! The program has been set and the acceptances from the speakers have been received. We’ll be featuring our speakers and their topics so you can see what a great group of individuals we have at our conference. Our vendor chair, Bill Priest, is contacting vendors for the event. If you belong to an OGS chapter, please encourage them to participate. This is a wonderful way to get new chapter members as well as volunteers for projects you may have.
OGS 2012 Conference program set!
The program is now set for the April 12-14 conference in Cleveland, Ohio. Over 60 sessions plus workshops are included in this three-day event. Workshops will be held on Thursday and will be an extra charge. Tickets will be issued for the workshops and only ticket-holders for those sessions will be admitted.
The vendor/exhibit hall chair is hard at work securing great vendors for the conference. Be sure to visit the vendor hall. All exhibits as well as sessions are on the same floor!
Room size, 2011
Many of the comments received on the evaluation forms were regarding the overcrowding of the rooms. There was good news and bad news. The good news was we had almost 700 attendees. The bad news was we had almost 700 attendees! When the conference site was chosen and the program set, we watched the registrations come in. As we evaluated each of the registrations as to session choice, we made preliminary plans for room assignments. We waited until the deadline to finalize the speaker and their room. As seen, we had an overwhelming number of attendees. So, changes have been made for the 2012 conference. There will be one session less per hour allowing the maximum use of the rooms and not dividing them to allow for more sessions.
