OGS 3rd Annual Fall Seminar

Featuring George Schweitzer

George K. Schweitzer is an Alumni Distinguished Professor at the University of Tennessee and holds BA, MS, and PhD degrees in Chemistry, an MA in the History of Religion, a PhD in History, and an ScD (Doctor of Science) in Philosophy of Science. He is Phi Beta Kappa and is listed in Who’s Who in America. He has authored 220 publications including 19 genealogical guidebooks. Professor Schweitzer uses historical reenactment to teach genealogy and has traced many of his ancestral lines back to the early 1500s. He has lectured to over 200 genealogical and historical societies in the United States, Canada, England, and Germany. He has previously been a key note speaker for the Ohio Genealogical Society annual conference.

A post-seminar open house will be held at the Ohio Genealogical Society Library, 713 S. Main St., Mansfield. The Library will remain open until 8:00pm for extended research hours following the open house.

9:30am Welcome
9:45am Civil War Genealogy (done in Union & Confederate uniforms)
11:00am Cherokee Genealogy Research (done in Cherokee costume)
12:00pm Lunch (on your own; suggestions/map will be provided)
1:30pm Rivers to Trails to Roads to Canals to Trains (railroad engineer costume)
2:45pm Open Discussion Hour (come prepared with questions)
4:00pm-8:00pm Post-Seminar Open House Reception at OGS Library in Mansfield
