OGS Copy Services
The OGS Copy Service is available only to OGS members. The cost is
$5.00, which includes return postage and up to 10 photocopies. Beyond 10 copies, the cost is 20
cents each, billed at delivery.
Available collections are:
- Ohio Census Index Check, 1820 to 1880
- One surname from published indices
- Ohio County Check
- Search for one ancestor in the basic book on that county in the OGS Library Collection
- Personal Data Files Check
- Search for one ancestor in ancestor cards, family group sheets, Bible records, and family vertical file
- First Families of Ohio Applications
- Will photocopy the matrial on one ancestor from an existing application
- Society of Civil War Families of Ohio Applications
- Will photocopy the material on one ancestor from an existing application
- Military Check
- Will search for one ancestor in Ohio indices to Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican War,
Civil War, Spanish-American War, or World War I
- Pioneer Check
- Will check one surname in major pre-1850 reference indices, including FFO, census, wills,
legislative acts, newspapers abstracts, etc.
- OGS Periodical Copies
- Will photocopy any one article from The Ohio Genealogical Society Quarterly (formerly
The Report), Ohio Records & Pioneer Families, or Ohio Civil War
Genealogy Journal
- Ohio Census Copies, 1820 to 1920
- Will copy a given ancestor in any one census year
- OGS Library Loan Catalog
- A printout of over 2,000 titles which may be loaned to member for a small fee
- Ohio Death Records Index Check
- Will check one surname for years 1908 to 1932, 1938 to 1944
- Ohio Marriage Index Check
- Will check one surname in major references for Ohio marriages
- Specific Title Search
- Will photocopy one article/item in a specified book, film, manuscript, vertical file
(including Bibles) at the OGS Library
- Ohio County Reference List
- Will print out the OGS holdings for a particular Ohio county from our catalog
General Research
OGS Staff and volunteers have only limited time to perform general
research for patrons. If you cannot visit the OGS Library (open 9 to 5 Tuesday through Saturday),
we recommend that you secure a Professional Researchers List for $2.00 and hire an individual
who has access to courthouse records in the county of interest. OGS volunteers can do limited general
research in the holdings of the OGS Library only. The rate is $10.00 for OGS members ($20.00 for
non-members) per request plus standard library photocopy costs (currently 20 cents per copy
from books, 50 cents from microfilm items).
