Since 1959, We’ve Led The Way On Genealogical Research

The Ohio Genealogical Society is the largest state genealogical society in the United States. Our mission is: Protecting and sharing Ohio’s family history resources, developing engaging educational opportunities, and connecting genealogists.

We’re helping newcomers and experts alike use resources, make connections, and find the records that bring their past alive.

Our goal is to help people take their genealogical research to the next level.

Making Accurate Genealogy Accessible

The field of genealogy has changed. People have access to more information than ever before. But that information can be spotty or misleading. We’re here to help you find the right information to piece together your past.

We offer:

  • A vast library of first-hand resources
  • Expert researchers to help you understand methodology and make connections
  • Conferences, seminars, lectures and more from leading experts and for everyone
  • Publications and programs for genealogists of every level

We’ve been around for over 60 years. The Ohio Genealogical Society uniquely creates a network of Ohio expertise that lets genealogists discover their families, so they feel personally enriched and confident in their results.
