Presentations:

1:00pm | Mark Holland, Archivist at the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum | “A Labor of Love” How Jessie June Burroway Came into the World
Canton, Ohio, 1910 – a family boarded a train bound for California and its healing weather: Father Lawrence, Mother Jessie, (pregnant with her 3rd child) Brother Arthur, Brother Paul. The trip would be interrupted by the premature birth of a baby girl somewhere in Idaho, Jessie June. The family would return to Canton with their precious mother’s body. Jessie June Burroway, not expected to survive, was left in Canton by her father in order to find work in California. The story of the Burroways and baby Jessie June is told through a wonderful accounting in a baby book by her stepmother, Helen (Bachtel) Burroway. Join Mark as he conveys the incredible true story of Dr. Burroway and her career, the many people who nursed a baby to health, and the adventures of a hair pin. You will regain your faith in love, tears, and the human spirit to triumph in the face of tragedy, and trial.

2:00pm | Stephanie Houck, Genealogy and Special Collections Manager | Stark Memory
