SUMMARY:Lake County Genealogical Society-Using City Directories in Genealogical Research
DESCRIPTION:The Lake County Genealogical Society will meet virtually on Zoom\, March 26\, 2026\, at 10:00 am. Following a short business meeting will be a presentation on “Using City Directories in Genealogical Research” by our guest speaker\, Cleveland native Deborah A. Abbott\, PhD\, specializing in genealogical methods\, manuscript collections\, and African American family research.\nIn genealogy research\, the residential listings are usually the most used part of the directory. Abbott will introduce the many sections of a city directory and how to use them to trace family and learn more about the city or rural community in which they lived\, worked\, and the schools they may have attended.\nTo receive an invitation to the Zoom meeting\, send an email at least 2 days in advance of the meeting to lcgsohio@lcgsohio.org or use our contact form at https://www.lcgsohio.org/contact. The Lake County Genealogical Society actively supports the genealogical collection at Morley Library in Painesville\, Ohio by donating materials\, staffing the genealogy room\, acquiring\, sharing\, and filing genealogical newsletters\, indexing items\, and answering queries.
