DESCRIPTION:This case study illustrates how following the Genealogical Proof Standard (GPS) to collect records and correlate evidence helps trace a Pennsylvania family’s possible movement to Ohio and Indiana. The Colglazier family\, said to be of Westmoreland County\, Pennsylvania\, is traced through land\, probate\, census\, tax lists\, and military records to find if they are indeed the same family who moved west. Presented by members of the Northeast Ohio Local/Family History Librarians \n11:30 am – OGS Presentation “Who Are We?” – OGS Executive Director Noel Poirier shares what the OGS is\, what we do\, and our plans for the future. \n12:30 pm – Lunch – Box lunches available and there are many nearby restaurants and fast food retailers \n1:30 pm – Second Program “Tips\, Tactics\, & Tools for History Librarians” – A panel from the Northeast Ohio Local/Family History Librarians discuss tips and tactics for maintaining local/family history collections\, conducting efficient reference interviews\, and guiding patrons to effective research questions. Free tools and resources will also be shared. Presented by members of the Northeast Ohio Local/Family History Librarians \n3:00 pm – Library Tour – Librarian Linda Swanson and Archivist Jenna Kish lead a guided tour of the library and archives for those interested.
