DESCRIPTION:The Lake County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting on April 30\, 2026\, via Zoom with Merralee Retallick as their guest speaker. She will be presenting an “Introduction to AI for Genealogy”. The program will include basic terminology of Artificial Intelligence and a bit about where it’s been and where it’s going in relation to genealogy. Retallick will review common genealogical applications and tips for getting the best results with AI.\nThe Lake County Genealogical Society will meet using video conferencing with Zoom beginning at 10:00 a.m. on the 30th. Any person interested in family history or genealogy is invited to join us. DESCRIPTION:The Lake County Genealogical Society will meet virtually on Zoom\, March 26\, 2026\, at 10:00 am. Following a short business meeting will be a presentation on “Using City Directories in Genealogical Research” by our guest speaker\, Cleveland native Deborah A. Abbott\, PhD\, specializing in genealogical methods\, manuscript collections\, and African American family research.\nIn genealogy research\, the residential listings are usually the most used part of the directory. DESCRIPTION:The Lake County Genealogical Society will be meeting on January 29th at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints\, 8751 Kirtland Road (Rt. 306)\, Kirtland\, Ohio. Following the business meeting will be the induction of new officers\, then an informative program presented by John Tracy Cunningham\, and concluding with a book auction pertaining to family history\, and a semi-catered luncheon by Mission BBQ. The main dishes will be provided\, and members are encouraged to bring a salad or dessert. Please pre-register via email by Monday\, January 26th\, and let them know whether you can bring a salad or dessert. Guests are welcome! Many use the FamilySearch website for family history research in the building of family trees. His presentation will cover treatment of living persons in your tree\, connecting your line to deceased ancestors already in the tree\, changing person and relationship information\, correcting data problems\, and the use of the Family Tree Validator. \nMr. Cunningham is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a lifelong genealogist and historian with a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois. He is retired from the Air Force and has been a defense contractor in Germany.
