As the United States celebrates its 250th birthday, join in the celebration to research your family history! Do you have male or female ancestors who lived between 1699-1787? Could they have served in the military, served in a local government, signed an oath of allegiance, or donated supplies or food? It is an exciting time to discover your Patriots!

This presentation will present some basic information about the Revolutionary War, discuss types of service, go over some common research roadblocks, and make research suggestions. Let’s get you started on your adventure and honor your Patriots.

Jean has enjoyed genealogy research for over thirty-give years. Born in Ohio and now residing in Washington State, she is a member of many lineage societies. As a member of the DAR, she is most interested in Revolutionary War Service. Serving as Registrar for several groups plus helping applicants research their family histories has been of invaluable help. Jean has presented programs on Lineage Societies, Beginning Genealogy, and Revolutionary War Research to the Warren County Genealogical Society, Routes to Roots, Family History Jamboree, and several lineage and historical societies throughout Ohio.

Jean was honored to serve a year as Lineage Societies Chair for the Warren County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society and is excited to be asked to be the July 2026 speaker.
