Join Linda Swanson, OGS Librarian, as she highlights some of the library’s resources regarding the Virginia Military District. This territory was bordered by the Ohio River on the south, the Little Miami River to the west, and the Scioto River on the east and north. Virginia used these lands as payment to  Revolutionary War veterans of the Virginia Continental Line. Many people, from surveyors to chain men to business owners who provided supplies, were involved in the process of surveying the land between the 1780s and mid 1850s. Several new abstracts and indexes can help one discover if their relative is mentioned in documents pertaining to the original surveying of the district.
