OGS Affiliate Chapter Information
Are you part of a 501(c)3 genealogical or family history group with a passion for preserving and sharing Ohio’s rich heritage? The Ohio Genealogical Society (OGS) invites you to become an Affiliate Chapter!
The process of becoming an affiliate chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society are outlined in the OGS Bylaws and Standing Rules as follows:
OGS Bylaws
11.3 – Existing 501(c)3 Family History Groups may petition the Ohio Genealogical Society Board to become an Affiliated Organization of the Society. Such organizations’ missions and goals shall not conflict with those of OGS, its existing Chapters, Special Interest Groups, or Affiliated Organizations. Affiliation guidelines and rules are in the Standing Rules.

12 – AFFILIATED ORGANIZATIONS
12.A – Existing genealogical Groups may petition the Board of Trustees to become an Affiliated Organization of the Ohio Genealogical Society. Such organizations shall have a mission and goals in line with those of the Ohio Genealogical Society. Such mission and goals shall not conflict with the Ohio Genealogical Society or its existing chapters and interest groups.
12.B – Affiliated Organizations shall receive Chapter benefits.
12.C – Upon petition for affiliation the Board of Trustees will vote upon affiliated status. A 2/3 vote shall be necessary to approve Affiliated Organization status.

– Ability to use the OGS name and brand in promotion of your own organization and programming.
– Ability to promote your organization’s events and programs on the OGS Events Calendar on our website where tens-of-thousands of people a year visit.
– Listing on the Chapter Finder on the OGS website.
– Single Chapter log-on for OGS members-only digital resources that can be used in your Chapter’s physical location.
– Promotion of your organization among the members of the OGS, website visitors, and libraries across the state and country
– Part of a large network of genealogists and family history enthusiasts across the state and country that are specifically interested in Ohio genealogy
